A certificate of honor given to Tartu small congregation shoichet Eliachu Melamed before his departure to South Africa in 1922

Honorred reb Eliahu, sheichet, Tartu congregation.

The representatives of the small minian on behalf of our prayers would like to express our deepest sorrow because of the departure of so important person like You.
In more than 30 years that You have been in Tartu and under your watchful eye, the congregation grew to an important minian (center) for Yiddish tradition.
At times when our minian was going down due to economical reasons, You looked for any opportunity to keep it.
Thanks to your doings and God's help, the minian is now in a very good economical situation.

We are very sad about your departure as we lose our spiritual leader. You are driven by your heart like Jacob was driven by his heart to see his son Joseph, and because of that we have to separate and we wish You a happy journey.

You will be honored to see your sons and grandsons learning Tora and You yourself will work serving God.
